Hosiery, a textile product (both as fabric and a manufactured
garment), is produced from a single or many threads of yarn by
making, what we call, loops joined together with neighbouring loops
by knitting weaves, vertically or horizontally.
Depending on the kind of weaves we distinguish wavy hosiery (twill
weave), where the loops are made using just one thread, and warp
hosiery (columnar), made from many threads.
Hosiery is made from many different kinds of yarn, e.q., cotton,
wool, linen; it can be plain or with facture, transparent or colored
patterns.
Due to this loose structure , hosiery is soft, flexible (it does not
cause discomfort) and it easily lets air through. Hosiery is
basically used for manufacturing garments such as dresses, sweaters
and coats; underwear; socks; stockings, as well as first-aid
materials, nets curtains, laces etc.
They can be manufactured directly into a ready-made article or sewn
together from hosiery fabric.
Is what hand-made using knitting needles or a crochet hook as early
as in the ancient times. Summing up, it is ecological material,
which guarantees comfort and elegance. It is very easy to wear and
does not require specialized service to keep it clean. It makes
possible various patterns of clothes, both in the aspect of colors
and cut.
